Bantams are a type of small chicken, about 1/2 of the size of regular
chickens, though the smallest bantam can get down to about the size of a 330ml can of
coke.
Bantams lay eggs
about 2/3 the size of regular hens eggs, (of course that varies a bit with the
size of the bantam). And because bantams are smaller, they take less space and food so for anyone with limited space, or don't want to
dedicate all their spaces to chickens, bantams are a brilliant solution!
A lot of chicken breeds have a smaller bantam counterpart, and there are also other breeds of bantam that have no chicken counterpart, so there are lots of sizes and types to choose from!
People also love keeping bantams because they are very cute, and some people say
banatms have more personality!
